Half-day winter Hikes with Cliff are typically 3–4 hours long and cover about 3–5 miles of his favorite trails in the Catskills. Along the way, you’ll learn about the geology and history of the area, with plenty of spots to take in the views and savor the moments (and some snacks). We encourage you to set your phone aside and completely immerse in the experience, as we’ll be getting pictures for you throughout the hike!
You will meet Cliff at 9am (unless indicated otherwise!) on the morning of our adventure at a convenient rendezvous point before proceeding to the trailhead. There you'll begin with a quick introduction and gear check before hitting the trail, pausing occasionally to learn about different rock formations, plant types and much more. Throughout the trip, you’ll be getting tons of candid and action shots, as well as some epic posed shots at some of Cliff's favorite viewpoints.
The hikes typically lean between easy and moderate difficulty, with some optional ‘challenges’ along the way (if you’re up for it!). Over the years, Cliff has finessed how to customize his hikes to the different hikers he has everyday and will adjust the route and pace to the best fit for you and your group. With a maximum group size of 8 and an average of 4 per trip, there will be plenty of opportunities for Cliff to work with you individually on your skills and techniques if needed.
*Note that all technical gear for winter hiking (e.g. snowshoes, crampons, microspikes) will be provided as needed.
