The bike tour takes about 2.5 hours and includes a brief introduction to how the island was first formed, the history of the Wampanoag Native Americans, early European settlement, the development and decline of the whaling industry, island culture and heritage and the decline and rebirth of the island as an historic, health spa and tourist destination. We then visit the Brandt Point Lighthouse, Steps Beach lookout overlooking Jetties and Galley beaches and Nantucket Sound, the Oldest House, Old Gaol, Old Mill and then head to see the Main Street mansions that the wealthy whale oil & candle factory owners built and then back into town to uncover some interesting aspects of American history.
